| The Addams family is not the typical families you can imagine. Why? They're weird, they're strange, and did I mention they're weird? They live in a rundown Victorian mansion, with weird lifestyles and pets. First, let’s get to know the family members starting from Gomez Addams who is passionately in love with his wife Morticia, often referring to her as Cara Mia, the father of Wednesday and Pugsley. In the TV series, Gomez is portrayed as a charming, handsome and successful man, who has a child like attitude and odd eagerness for everything he does. Though a peaceful man, he is known to be well versed in many types of combat. He plays fence with Mortica who used to be his endless love. Studied to become a lawyer but rarely practice his profession while taking great pride in losing his cases. Gomez is extremely wealthy from inheritance and extensive investments, but he seems to have little regard for money. Morticia Addams, is a woman who has pale skin and a Gothic appearance, clad in a skin-tight black gown with octopus like. She has an older sister named, Ophelia. In the series, her marriage brought her uncle Fester into the family. Gomez and Morticia have two children, they are Pugsley and Wednesday. Wednesday, whose middle name is Friday, was originally as her name suggests a quiet, somewhat pathetic child, full of woe. In the TV show she is a sweet, innocent, happy child, largely concerned with her pet spiders. Her favorite toy is a doll named, Marie Antoinette. Like most members of the family, she seems to be stronger than most humans, requiring a lot more punishment to be killed. Pugsley originally called Pubert, a name that would be given to the Addams' third child was depicted as a diabolical, malevolent child next door. In the TV series, he is a devoted older brother with an inventive and mechanical genius mind. In the most recent animated series, Pugsley's and Wednesday's personalities seem to be a mix of their previous ones, with Wednesday a happy and somewhat optimistic child, while retaining her sophisticated manner from the movies and Pugsley having regained some of his genius when it comes to chemistry and machines, but his intelligence still seems to be rather underdeveloped at times. The children appear to be home-schooled, receiving all the education they require from Grandmama and Uncle Fester. An attempt was made to enroll them in the local elementary school, but it did not work out, initially. In later episodes of the television series, however, they are depicted as attending the public school. Did you know that the Munsters were born the same year as the Addams Family TV show. It is often compared to its working-class rival, The Munsters, which ran for the same two seasons and achieved higher Nielsen Ratings. So what makes The Addams family different from The Munsters? The two shows might seem superficially similar but there are also some differences. The Addams family are humans with costumes and home decor with a gothic look, and who have macabre quirks and supernatural powers. The Munsters resemble, and have some of the qualities of, the Universal Studios movie monsters. The Munsters also possess some supernatural powers. Both families have some interaction with both normal society and an extensive subculture of like-minded people and extended family members. Both families regard their macabre tastes as the norm and believe they are an average suburban family. The Addams Family and the Munsters are perplexed when normal society find their activities strange. Both families reside in gothic-looking, cluttered mansions located in an otherwise normal American neighborhood. While the Addams family is incalculably wealthy, the Munster's are definitely middle-class, with Herman Munster working for a living at the Gateman, Goodbody and Graves funeral parlor.
