As 2010 begins, everyone has their New Year’s Resolutions and strives to make this a better year in many ways – personally, professionally, financially, etc. As a poker player, I expect that last year’s challenges become tackled, the leaks in my game are plugged, my overall game shows progress -and those are just to name a few goals! I also have decided to “map out the year” and plan ahead to play events where I can achieve my highest potential. As a Las Vegas resident for just about two years now, I have no shortage of poker opportunities surrounding me, but I feel I haven’t done a great job of capitalizing on what is available to me, simply because I didn’t really know where to start.

I decided to try and get an idea of what the local card rooms and tournament schedules are like in Las Vegas. In the past, I had used some online resources to try and map out some new places and events to try, but a lot of times the information I found was out of date. When I called a poker room to verify particular website information, I was regularly faced with “we don’t have that tournament anymore” or better yet, “our casino closed their poker room about a year ago.” So my strategy became to stick with the rooms I know well – Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Red Rock and a couple other favorites. I didn’t bother looking outside of these rooms and I didn’t spend any time searching for special events in the city either – save for a few LIPS tour events and the apparent World Series of Poker schedule in the summer months.

So to start this year off right, it was time to take the next step and be organized. I attempted an online search again and found most of the same websites as before, but this time I also stumbled upon a new site called LasVegasPokerSource.com. I was thrilled to see that this is a recently launched site, so their tournament information is current. They also provide detailed information about the structure- starting chips, length of blind levels, and other pertinent information that is helpful to the inquiring player. It is sorted by day of the week, and also has a monthly click calendar, as well as a list of upcoming special events like the Venetian Deepstack and World Series of Poker Circuit Event.

In addition, LasVegasPokerSource.com provides information for the serious player who is interested in professional training, whether it is online, group or private, with some of the world’s top poker professionals and reputable companies. They have a “book of the month” offer through Amazon, links to a wide variety of poker professional’s blogs, and many widgets to their vast social media network, YouTube channel, and Poker News top stories. They will also beimplementing a live cash game page in the near future, where players will be able to hunt for their favorite stakes and find out which casinos are currently spreading that particular game, as well as knowing ahead of time if there is a waiting list.

This site is a Las Vegas poker player’s dream. Everything we have needed to know about poker in Las Vegas is now located in one place; neatly arranged, easy to navigate and frequently updated. I have returned to the site repeated times over the past couple days and found new things to investigate every time I’ve looked. I highly recommend this for players looking for a profitable and enjoyable poker experience while visiting or living in Las Vegas.
