| For those who love to see planes, warships and soldiers in action, the show JAG is definitely the one you should watch. The show combines fast paced actions scenes with highly engaging professional drama that you will surely love. And it comes with the occasional wisecracking humor too.�JAG, the title of the show, stands for the Judge Advocate General, the legal arm of any division of the United States armed forces. True to the name of the show, each TV episode follows and extended cast of military officers as they encounter and resolve situations that may lead to threats to national security.�Regular characters appearing in the show include Navy Captain Harmon Rabb (played by David James Elliot) a member of the US Navy who was assigned as a lawyer for JAG after suffering from night blindness. There is also Lt. Col. Sarah MacKenzie, who is Harmon's best friend and love interest. For some comedic relief there is also Lt. Cmdr. Bud Roberts who, while a brave soldier, is also a self admitted Trekkie (as Star Trek fans are called) and a paranormal enthusiast. He shares the limelight with his equally comedic wife, Lt. Harriet Simms.�What makes this show truly remarkable is the amount of military detail that the producers have employed in the show. The production boasts of highly detailed replicas of actual uniforms used by the various officers in their respective departments. Also, much of the scenes were filmed onboard actual navy ships adding more to the realism of the show. Many other real life warships make their appearances in several episodes of the show. �Another good thing to note about the show is that, while many of the conflicts presented in it are purely fictional, it also occasionally takes time to focus on real world conflict. The series also is quite remarkable for its accurate presentation of the military procedures used to deal with such cases.�Alongside the realism presented, the show is also praised for the great story that it has. Rather than going for the gun-shooting portrayals many other military themed shows follow, JAG instead goes to focus on the problems that they encounter at work, including competition among co-workers and the frustration brought about by the bureaucracy and other things. These make the characters more life-like and interesting.�It would also be interesting to note that JAG is one of the few shows that is highly recommended both by the US Navy and US Marines. The Department of Defense also have granted permission to the production to use actual military installations and equipment for filming. This adds to the great amount of realism that is already present in JAG.�So if you want to watch something that has all the ingredients a fast paced military novel mixed with drama, JAG is definitely the one DVD for you. You will surly enjoy watching every episode of it.� |
