When employees do not work well together it creates distractions and puts obstacles in place preventing the successful completion of projects. If you implement team building it does not take a lot of money or company resources and the rewards can be great. After many team building experiences you will see higher productivity, more motivated staff and fewer headaches. Team building is a valuable tool that can improve how your organization functions. Before you engage in a team building even you heed to plan beforehand. Determine how often, when and were these events should take place. Decide who will facilitate and attend the events. Be sure that everyone is welcome if you leave someone out not only is it distracting it defeats the purpose. It is important that top management as well as all staff members participate especially those who are having the most difficulty getting along. While you may face resistance at first about having to attend the meetings over time it should become an enjoyable experience that everyone looks forward to. You will realize greater success when team building events are scheduled at times when work loads are less hectic. If the staff is already stressed due to deadlines or business volume they will not be able to focus as well and participate fully. Setting a routine is recommended. Plan one hour per week at a regular, set time in order for it to become a habit. Be sure that the atmosphere of the meetings is professional, calm, caring and civil. While all opinions are welcome personal attacks or rebuttals should not be tolerated.
